Good location and services with water, coffee, and tea available in the room. Also a nice coffee or Japanese green tea service available from 4-8pm daily in the “refresh lounge.”

Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

We stayed 11 nights at Hotel Niwa. Liked the gardens, the breakfast buffet, the staff, comfortable beds, nice bathroom and products, 3rd floor zen garden, laundry, massage chairs. AC good. Close to tons of restaurants and shops. 5 min away from Suidobashi Station. Very close to Tokyo Dome and LaQua Spa complex which has lots of restaurants and shops including a very nice grocery store, a lovely food hall, Muji, 2 Starbucks, an amusement park and lots more. We went many times to Boulange for breakfast, a nice bakery.

Food and drinks in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

Hotel Niwa Tokyo is truly a hidden gem. Every time I visit Tokyo, I always choose to stay at this hotel and for good reason. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. During my last stay, I had to print 22 custom-designed cards on special Japanese paper for a dinner I was organizing. The team went above and beyond to assist me, printing everything flawlessly and even helping me carry everything to the car so I could arrive on time. Their dedication and attention to detail made all the difference. The service at Hotel Niwa goes far beyond expectations always warm, attentive, and professional. The restaurant, especially the Japanese one, is absolutely fantastic. A true culinary experience. The neighborhood is also one of my favorites in Tokyo quiet, charming, filled with lovely shops, restaurants, and cafés, yet still very central and well-connected to the subway. Honestly, Hotel Niwa is one of my favorite hotels in the world. I wholeheartedly recommend it. To the Niwa team thank you once again for a wonderful stay!

Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

Lovely relaxation room looking over a small traditional Japanese garden, open 24/7. The rooms are small by western standards but large by Japanese standards. There was enough room in the gym for me to practice yoga. There are also a few other small gardens throughout the hotel which gave it a more peaceful feeling. At first the restaurant said they couldn’t accommodate vegetarians, but mid week after one of the waitress spoke to the kitchen, they started preparing a few veggie dishes for me. Unfortunately there are very few restaurants offering vegetarian options so it was difficult to eat locally. The location is good from a public transport perspective.

Lobby or reception, Bed in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

Very welcoming staff. Rooms are clean. Locations is walkable distance (25min) to Imperial Palace/Main train station and same to Ueno station/Ueno park. Many restaurants and mini markets around. In this property you will find everything what you need for your trip: amenities are good, coffee in the room, detergent included in the washing machines. Relaxing room with massage chairs is so nice while you wait your laundry to finish. Tea, food in Japanese restaurant so so good. Big thank you to hotel’s reception staff who helped a lot with booking tours and overall hospitality. Arigato kosay mas!

Hotel Niwa has a welcoming vibe, modern Japanese style decor, and handy amenities like a rooftop terrace, massage chair room, and common room with a zen garden view. Our superior double room was clean, roomy for Japan, and had a great bath. The staff were very helpful and also spoke English, and were very accommodating when we requested luggage forwarding - we thought that it would be a huge headache but they handled it all for us. The location near the Jimbocho bookshop district was great, and it was a great central location. Chiyoda is an area with schools and universities nearby and was a nice oasis away from the crowds. We loved our stay and would stay again.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in a fabulous location for easy access to all the sites in Tokyo. Niwa is a stunning hotel, nestled in a quiet street within 5-7 mins walk to the train station. The staff are friendly and super helpful. The rooms are a good size for Japan and easily accommodated our family of five. We chose to have two rooms, one for our three children and the other for two adults. The hotel was able to place the rooms close to each other on the same floor. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower over a beautiful deep bath, with all the products you need for your stay. The hotel and rooms were super clean, with daily housekeeping that did a superb job. They even provided a set of pyjamas every day. The hotel is close to convenience stores, if you need to pick up anything and there are a number of good eateries nearby, if needed. We had the breakfast for only one morning, which was fine but not amazing enough to warrant having it every day. The gym, terrace and massage lounges were great as well. The on site washing / laundry facility was a god send.

Food and drinks in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

I really liked breakfast. It was a buffet with an option to be served a cooked egg from a list of options. The variety of food was plenty with local ingredients mixed with western style options. I particularly liked Japanese style choices like miso soup, fish, crab salad. There was a rice cooker as well. Deserts were lovely as well. Each day there were small changes in the variety but overall it stayed the same. All the dining experience was superb, you would be greeted and seated in the best spot available and cared for. Also the dining is quite pretty, well lit with view on small garden. For the room I really liked ours had a relatively big bathtub for a Japanese standard. Also I liked that there were small additional utilities like toothbrushes, razors and hair combs. The bed was pretty comfortable and the room had a window. I also like the hotel had washing machines and dryers on the separate floor. It was for additional cost, but nice to have. The hotel had other shared rooms, like relaxation rooms, rooms with chair-massage, gym and a terrace. We didn't use it often, but seemed pretty nice. The hotel is in a nice quiet area, not too far away from metro station.

Food and drinks in Hotel Niwa Tokyo

We checked into this hotel on our very first night in Tokyo. It perfectly embodies the spirit of “small but beautiful.” Though the room wasn’t spacious, it was filled with thoughtful design details. Every little amenity conveyed a sense of warm hospitality and genuine care for guests. The bedding was incredibly comfortable — I felt a deep sense of peace and contentment every night as I drifted off to sleep during our three-night stay. The bathtub was deep and relaxing, perfect for soaking away the fatigue after a long day of city walking. The wooden furniture wasn’t luxurious, but it carried a quiet, timeless quality. To me, it reflected Japan’s aesthetic of modesty and quiet refinement — and I truly loved it. Even better was the hotel’s public area design: there was a serene tatami room facing a traditional Japanese garden, perfect for resting. A laundry room and massage chairs were also available (though there were only a few, so you might have to wait a bit — but they also provided sanitizing supplies). Everything felt very clean and well-kept. The service was impeccable — truly five stars. And the location couldn’t have been better. The subway was just a five-minute walk away, making it easy to reach anywhere in Tokyo. When we left, our child left a small drawing in the room to thank the hotel for the care during those three days. All in all, it was a beautiful memory — and I truly hope we have the chance to return someday.

This is a lovely, foreign-traveler-oriented hotel with excellent restaurants. The rooms are a good size for Tokyo and well-appointed. We appreciated having two chairs in our twin room. The "extras" like mini gardens, "relaxation room," washer/dryer, and massage chairs are good (though the massage chairs left me bruised and maybe need an update). The location is fine--a quiet neighborhood not too far from any place one might wish to visit but with little in the immediate neighborhood. The restaurants were excellent, both the Western and Japanese, and the breakfast buffet superb. Excellent blackout shades.
